Skilled Worker Category

New Zealand provides the opportunity for appropriately skilled applicants to apply for residence in New Zealand.  Applicants will need to demonstrate that they have acceptable formal qualifications and relevant work experience in an occupation deemed skilled in New Zealand.     All applicants must initially submit an expression of interest that demonstrates the minimum points requirement at the time of application.

Family Category

Emigration to New Zealand is also available through the family migration program is designed to assist family members of New Zealand citizens and permanent residents to move permanently to New Zealand.   The eligibility criteria for this type of visa will require applicants to demonstrate strong family ties in New Zealand and meet the Immigration Department’s regulatory requirements based upon the particular visa subclass that is applied for.  This type of visa normally relates to applications from partners, parents or children of New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.   There are provisions for other special family category visas.

Entrepreneur Category

New Zealand welcomes persons who wish to come to New Zealand to make significant financial investment.    This type of visa will allow applicants with the appropriate level of financial investment, investment/business experience and age to apply for residence.    There is also the Long Term Business Visa program that allows people with a demonstrated business background to move to New Zealand and establish a business activity that will provide direct benefits to New Zealand.    This is a two stage process that provides an initial period of temporary residence to allow the applicant to establish their business and then go on to apply for permanent residence at a later stage.
